Founder & CEO
“I consider adoption a natural extension of my life”
For more than 28 years, Marcia Barker, Founder & CEO of Adoption Information Services, Inc. (AIS), has guided over 2,700 families successfully through the adoption process. As a natural extension of Marcia’s life, she has always experienced adoption as a positive way to build a family.
In fact, adoption runs through Marcia’s family – her brother was adopted and Marcia and her husband adopted two internationally-born children. Marcia’s professional and personal experience, along with degrees in education, psychology and counseling, make her uniquely qualified to lend strength, compassion and wisdom to your adoption journey.
Leigh has been a part of the AIS team since November 2004. She and her husband Greg were clients of AIS when they adopted their newborn son Nathanael in May 2004.
Through her own adoption experience and relationship with her son’s birth mother, Leigh is able to help potential adoptive parents understand the emotional aspects of adoption for everyone involved. She counsels and guides each AIS client as they navigate the steps to completing a successful adoption.
Her degree in journalism and family and consumer sciences and her background in editing and photojournalism give her the knowledge to assist families in sharing their personal stories with birth parents through their profiles.
